Guiding a Visitor through the Garden
Through the use of repeated paving patterns, path lighting fixtures, and bright ornamental grasses, the design was able to effectively communicate how the visitor should reach the front door.
The owners of this unique Kilmarnock house faced a distinct problem: upon arriving at their home and passing through a breezeway, visitors were confused about where the front door was located. Four Winds was hired to alleviate this issue, as well as redesign their garden to include an outdoor living area.
Through the use of repeated paving patterns, path lighting fixtures, and bright ornamental grasses, the design was able to effectively communicate how the visitor should reach the front door. Paving patterns again highlighted a sunken patio that took advantage of the slight elevation change of the site. This patio was surrounded by fragrant plants chosen for staged blooming.
Four Winds was hired again to renovate the backyard deck into a patio, again using elevation change to create distinct rooms. This patio features a long stone wall, repeated plants and paving patterns from the first design, and fully takes advantage of the many vistas out into the surrounding garden and to the waters of the Dividing Creek.
